Privacy

Survival is personal. So is your data.

Offline-first is also a privacy promise. We collect as little as possible — and you control even that.

No account required

Use the app fully without signing up. No email, no password, no profile.

Your location stays on your device

GPS is used only to show your position on the map. Coordinates are never sent to our servers.

We use PostHog (EU servers) to understand which features are useful. No personal data. Toggle off in Settings — anytime.

Minimal tracking on the website

This website uses Google Analytics (IP-anonymized) to understand visitor patterns. The app itself uses no third-party trackers — no ad networks, no Facebook pixel.

FAQ

Common questions.

Does the app really work without internet?

Yes. All reference content lives in a local database on your device. Plant info, first aid procedures, skills, maps and compass all work offline — including in airplane mode. You only need internet to install the app and (optionally) to download additional map regions for offline use.

Is the app free?

Yes, Offline Survival Kit is free to download from the App Store. There are no subscriptions, no ads, and no paid features.

Which languages are supported?

The app is available in 14 languages: English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Japanese, Swedish, Norwegian, Ukrainian, Russian and Simplified Chinese. The app auto-detects your device language on first launch.

What devices does it work on?

Offline Survival Kit currently runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS 15 and later). An Android version is not yet available.

How does the offline map work?

You download map regions of your choice in advance (over Wi-Fi). The app uses OpenStreetMap-based tiles via MapLibre, which are then stored locally. GPS location works through your device hardware and does not require a cellular connection.

Does the app collect personal data?

No personal data. The app does not require an account. Your location and bookmarks stay on your device. Optional anonymous usage analytics (via PostHog, EU servers) can be disabled in Settings → Privacy at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I trust the first aid information?

The first aid content is curated from established sources and reviewed for general accuracy. However, the app is intended as a reference, not as a substitute for professional medical care or formal first aid training. In any emergency, contact professional emergency services.

Why an offline app instead of a website?

Survival situations often happen exactly where cell signal fails: mountains, forests, sea, disaster zones. An offline app is reliable when it matters most — even with no battery left on your data plan, no connectivity, or after a network outage during a disaster.
